Wise Yoga - A Refreshingly Real Yoga Class

Wednesday, 01 August 2018

“Drop the ego, just get on the mat and that’s all you have to do.”

These are the words of Fran Forde who has recently commenced her refreshingly real Yin Yoga classes at the Warralily Community House.

Wise Yoga - A Refreshingly Real Yoga Class
Fran has been teaching yoga for 3 years, has a Diploma in Hatha Yoga & Yin Yoga teacher training and just about to do her advanced Yin Yoga training.

Her “can do” and real attitude is inspiring people who have maybe shied away from yoga before.
Breaking down barriers and stereotypes that can sometimes surround yoga, her classes are accessible and are proving enjoyable and beneficial for the many who are now attending her classes on a Wednesday morning.

She says, “Yoga has zero to do with what you wear, what you eat, the poses you can do or cannot do and how spiritual you are. It is just taking a small amount of time to give yourself a gift.“

“What is Yin Yoga?” you ask??

During the classes held at the intimate and comfy Warralily Community House, Fran will guide you through a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time— which means holding poses for 3 - 5 minutes.

This style of yoga gently increases flexibility and releases tensions in the deep connective tissues between the muscles. It really loosens everything of allowing freer movements in your day to day life.

Fran’s classes follow these three main principles;
  • Come to your bodies edge - allowing it to soften, balance and heal.
  • Stillness - taking still moments for yourself and your body.
  • Time - giving your body time to relax, settle, heal and restore.

“Every pose has options so if you are not able to do that pose you can use yoga props (blankets, blocks or bolsters) to readjust and get you into the pose safely. “If you have an injury we can also accommodate that” Fran explained.

Can Anyone Do it?

Anyone and everyone of all ages can do it. You do not need to know anything about yoga or poses, you do not need to be flexible or have great balance. All of the poses are done either seated or laying down.

“If you want to spend a class just laying on your mat go for it!”, another great statement from Fran.

Fran is currently running two different classes at the Warralily Community House which she says is perfect for her style of classes as it’s intimate, comfy and cosy.

Wise Yoga @ 10:30am - a class dedicated to those in their wiser years.
