One huge benefit of being part of the Warralily community – along with the chance to escape the pace of the city – is its close proximity to some of Victoria’s most popular beach destinations. Whether you’re a keen surfer, swimmer, hiker or even a budding bird watcher, Warralily puts you just a short drive away from your own private slice of the Surf Coast.

The Surf Coast is waiting at Warralily
We’ve put together just a few examples of beaches within a half hour’s drive of Warralily..

Bells Beach – Bells Beach home to the Rip Curl Pro Surfing Competition, but it isn’t just for surfers. With incredible cliffs overlooking a spectacular ocean, this is the perfect place to visit for a long walk with the dog or just to marvel at the view, camera in hand.

Jan Juc – Another great place to see the drama of Victoria’s coastline, this beach is also relatively rugged and another must for Victoria’s surfers. Its limestone cliffs reach 20 metres high in some places, overlooking the wild waters of Bass Strait. The Jan Juc Surf Lifesaving Club offers competitions throughout the year, along with training for Nippers.

Barwon Heads – One of the more well-known beaches in the area, Barwon Heads is the place for those who want to mix a bit of beach action with quality fish and chips, great coffee and lots of stylish yet fun boutiques. Don’t forget to check out The Bluff Lookout, then make your way up to Lake Connewarre Wildlife Reserve – one of Victoria’s most significant wetland areas.

Ocean Grove - Just a little further up the coast (a mere 15 minutes from Warralily to be exact) you’ll come across yet more beautiful scenery at Ocean Grove, where a long, curving beach makes for a great place to swim during the warmer months. It’s also home to the Ocean Grove Golf Club along with plenty of cafes and bars to road test.

Swan Bay - If you’re keen for a slightly longer drive, Swan Bay is just over half an hour away and well worth the effort. This is your beach if you’re into more adventurous activities like scuba diving, canoeing and sea kayaking. Swan Bay is also home to Kiltynane Winery – just one of the many wineries that dot the area around Warralily.

Torquay Foreshore Reserve - Travelling south from Warralily takes you to the popular Torquay Foreshore, which is not only home to the largest camping ground on the Surf Coast but also the official starting point of the Great Ocean Road. If you’re not keen to drive any further, this is the place to enjoy more protected beaches, yet more stunning views, and get a taste of where Australia’s biggest surf brands got their start.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet cafe with a sea view or to watch some of Australia’s best surfers take on the ocean, there’s a lot to discover when you start exploring the coastline around Warralily.

But don't’ just take ourt word for it – hear from Warralily residents about why they love the lifestyle
