Warralily community turns 10 this year

Congratulations to all Warralilian people! The real success of this neighbourhood is driven by the people who have moved here, together you have created an truly unique community.
Within this award-winning community is an organised group who work together to plan events increasing connection to people and place, lobby local councillors and MP’s for upgrades and change, deliver initiatives that create a sense of community pride and work with The City of Greater Geelong to plan the delivery of relevant future community assets.

3217 Community Group

Over the years, the 3217 Community Group, have been involved in a number of initiatives to strengthen our community, from the famous Warralily Christmas Spectacular - which connects our community, brings vibrancy to public spaces, supports local businesses and provides an opportunity for many local students to perform on a live stage - to supporting grassroots clubs and groups to deliver their own programming.

What are our achievements

Last year the Group and 3217 Youth Group worked with Darren Cheeseman to commence the first Warralily Bus Service which now runs from Waurn Ponds to The Village.

With the opening of the $15.24M Armstrong Creek East Community Hub last year, the group in partnership with The City of Greater Geelong, planned the Family Fun Day which celebrated the opening of this awesome new community asset.

Earlier this year our group were successful in lobbying local councillors to deliver a School Crossing for the opening of St Catherine of Sienna Primary School.

This year we are learning to adapt to our “new norm” and organised a Virtual Easter Hat Parade which was sponsored by Woolworths at The Warralily Village.

With in-person events currently on hold we are planning a virtual Fun Run for later this year – but don’t worry - we are Ready (Set and Go) to launch The Warralily Fun Run as soon as we get advice from DHHS allowing for super excellent community events to go ahead again.

A current 3217 Community Group initiative, Light Up Winter, invites our neighbours to decorate their front gardens to light up our streets so that we can enjoy the evening walks around the neighbourhood.

We also work closely in supporting the Warralily Community Garden Project Warralily Community Garden Project – who are well into the planning phase of this this new and exciting community asset.

Possibly the biggest on our agenda is planning for this year’s Warralily Christmas Spectacular. We are dedicated to continuing our most loved event of the year and are currently investigating all ideas whether virtual or physical – in line with the latest DHHS and The COGG events team advice.
